To setup a trail ride for the club use the below link to trials in Larimer County. Make sure you look at the 'user group' as it will let you know if the trail is open to horses. Local Hikes.com Fill out the below template and submit your ride to Penny Adair by email. The information will be posted to our web site.

Ride: Directions to trailhead and/or website for trail ride
Bring: Your own lunch, utensils, and a side dish to share. Also bring whatever you want to drink and water/food/treats for your horse(s).

First Trail Ride -
Shelby's Birthday Ride (Memorial Weekend) - Lory State Park

Date: Monday May 26, 2008 . Daily Pass: $6 per vehicle per day
Time: Ride starts in-between 9:30 - 10:00 am . * That means have your horse saddled and ready to go at 10:00 am.
Bring: Your own lunch, utensils, and drinks, we will sit on the picnic tables. (pool afterwards?)
Also, bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).

Second Trail Ride -
Lone Pine, Livermore - Dogs on voice command - Flag-day

Date: Saturday June 14, 2008.
Time: Ride starts in-between 9:30 - 10:00 am . *That means have your horse saddled and ready to go at 10:00 am.
Bring: Your own chair, lunch, utensils, and drinks. Also, bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).
Directions:
Take Highway 287 north from Fort Collins to Laporte. Continue on 287 north to Livermore. Turn west on 74E for 9 miles to the trailhead. Parking area is on the right. The sign sits back off the road, so be sure to watch for it. The trailhead is
on the right side of the highway.

 


 

Third Trail Ride -
Dunn-Raven Linda Cooper's Memorial Ride

Date: Saturday, June 28, 2008
Time: Ride starts in-between 9:30 - 10:00 am.
* That means have your horse saddled and ready to go at 10:00 am.
Bring: Your own lunch, utensils, and drinks. Bring a blanket to sit on if you would like to. We will be sitting in the
grass in the meadow after we ride-up to the homestead, so pack your lunch.
Also, bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).
Directions:
From Loveland, take Highway 34 west from Loveland for 17 miles to Drake. Turn right on County Road 43. Travel about 6 miles to Dunn-Raven. Dunn-Raven is located on the right 'north' side of the road. It's just a little future up the road passed Crosier Mountain Trailhead.

 


 

Forth Trail Ride -
Bobcat Ridge, Masonville

Time: Ride starts in-between 9:30 - 10:00 am. * That means have your horse saddled and ready to go at 10:00 am.
Bring: Your own chair, lunch, utensils, and drinks, should be some picnic tables there. No dogs are allowed. Bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).
Directions:
From Fort Collins, take Harmony Road west, it turns into CR 38 E. Follow CR 38 E to Masonville. Go left (south) at the Masonville Mercantile onto CR 27. Follow CR 27 about 1 mile to CR 32 C, head west about 1 mile to the parking lot.

 


 

Fifth Trail Ride -
Lion Gulch

Bring: Your own chair, lunch, utensils, and drinks. Bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).
Directions:
Lion Gulch Trailhead is located on Hwy. 36. Thirteen miles west of Lyons and 8 miles east of Estes Park. From Estes Park travel to the 8-mile marker on Hwy. 36. The trailhead is on the west side of the road.

 


 

 

Yearly Camping Trip at Jack's Gulch

Dates: Thurs-Sun, Aug. 7-10, 2008
Bring: Your own everything you need...............it still get cold up there. Well mannered dogs ok, suppose
to be kept on a leash. Bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).
Directions:
43 miles from Fort Collins - estimated time of driving about 1 hour, 10 minutes
- Go North on US-287.
- Turn slight right, following US-287; don't go into Laporte!
- Stay straight on US-287/Laporte bypass. Continue to follow US-287 N.
- Turn left onto CO-14/Poudre Canyon Hwy (driving time through Poudre Canyon is about 40 minutes)
- Turn left onto CR-63E/131/Pingree Park Road - Pingree Park Rd. is a two-lane dirt and gravel road
with some long steep grades and sharp curves! Stay left at the road fork to Rd 139.
- Jacks Gulch Campground, 6515 Pingree Park Rd, Bellevue, CO 80512-8901, US

 


 

Sixth Trail Ride -
Coyote Ridge, Fort Collins

Bring: Your own blanket to sit on, lunch, utensils, and drinks. We can eat after we ride down the 'stairway'. Bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).
Directions:
From Fort Collins go South on Taft Hill Road, From Loveland go North on Wilson. Trail is about halfway between Fort Collins & Loveland

 


 



Seventh Trail Ride -
Hall Ranch, Lyons - Year-end Ride & Picnic

Date: Saturday, September 20, 2008
Time: Ride starts in-between 9:30 - 10:00 am. * That means have your horse saddled and ready to go at 10:00 am.
Bring: Your a side dish to share and your own meat. Bring your own utensils, and drinks. We will have a potluck under the pavilion on the picnic table. We need volunteers to cook, setup etc. while the riders ride. Feel free to come and enjoy the picnic even if you don't ride. No dogs allowed. Bring water/food/treats for your horse(s).
Directions:
- From Loveland, go south on US-287 to Longmont
- Turn right at CO-66/Ute Hwy, continue to follow CO-66 for about 9 miles into Lyons
- Turn left at Main Street
- Turn left at 5th Avenue/CO-7, continue to follow CO-7 for about 1.5 miles to Hall Ranch

TRAIL RIDE SAFETY TIPS

Robins favorite trail...hang on!

SUPPLIES FOR RIDERS:
* Sunglasses Gloves
* Sharp knife and/or all-in-one pocket tool
* Rain gear
* Lip balm
* Hoof pick
* A form of identification

*
Jacket
* Sunscreen
* Water
* First aid kits for horses and riders
* Water proof matches
* Tissues or toilet paper
* Hat
* String or leather for tack repair
* Insect Repellent
* Snacks
* Compass


SUGGESTIONS FOR THE RIDE:
* Dress in layers.
* Make sure horses have the opportunity to drink before starting up the trail
* Allow horses to drink if there is water available on the trail.
* Bring or wear hats and sunscreen to prevent heat exhaustion or sun stroke.
* Check all tack and equipment before leaving home and before starting on the trail.
* Safety helmet use is an individual and parental decision.

DON'T FORGET:
* Tie red ribbons in horses' tails that kick.
* Maintain space between you and the next horse.
* Stay with the group - if you intend to leave, tell someone!
* Do not run past others. This has a tendency to scare some horses and could cause problems for riders with less experience than you.
* Stay on the designated trail.
